Devoted to supporting the mission and legacy of Tamshing Monastery in Bhutan.
At the spiritual and cultural center of the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, Tamshing Temple, in the Bumthang valley is celebrated for its cultural significance, mission and direct connection to the Buddhist Bhutanese saint Pema Lingpa.

Tamshing is headed by
The Venerable Lhalung Sungtrul Rinpoche the 11th direct incarnation of Pema Lingpa, who works tirelessly spreading Dharma, caring for the welfare of hundreds of monks and nuns, and maintaining and developing temples, monasteries and schools.  Friends of Tamshing is committed to providing support to Tamshing Monastery and other of Rinpoche's projects to benefit the monks and nuns of Bhutan, and to help preserve its vital culture.

Established in 1501, Tamshing now consists of  the beloved, but crumbling temple and cramped, inadequate monks quarters. Tamshing supports a body of over 80 monks. Mostly under the age of 15, these monks are either orphans or from very poor families who can't afford to send their children to a state school. For them, Tamshing is home, school and future.
